City Council Candidates Unite Behind "Common Sense Contract with NYC"
Seven-point pledge defends the freedom to live, work, and thrive in NYC
New York, NY, October 7, 2025 - In a bold move to restore confidence in government and offer voters a clear and unified alternative, a coalition of 2025 New York City Council candidates have signed onto the Common Sense Contract with NYC, a seven-point pledge aimed at defending the freedom to live, work, and thrive in New York.
Spearheaded by the nonpartisan civic action organization Project Civica, the initiative brings together candidates across boroughs who are united around restoring safety, opportunity, and accountability to city government.
"New Yorkers are tired of empty promises and ideological extremes. They want real, achievable solutions," said Steven Gillan, Co-Founder and Director of Political Affairs at Project Civica. "The Common Sense Contract with NYC is a public commitment that lets voters know exactly where their candidates stand on the issues that matter most to them."
