City of Houston Announces Plans to Host U.S. Navy Fleet Week in November

April 29, 2025 ~ Houston, TX - Mayor John Whitmire and U.S. Navy Admiral Daryl Caudle, Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command, have announced that the City of Houston will be hosting Navy Fleet Week later this year in collaboration with Houston First Corporation, Discovery Green, and other partners.

The event, which will take place from November 5-12, 2025 at the Port of Houston, marks the first time a Texas city has hosted a Fleet Week. This partnership between the Navy and a host city aims to introduce communities to the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard while also allowing visiting members of the U.S. Armed Forces to experience local culture and history.

During a recent press conference, Admiral Caudle informed Mayor Whitmire that at least 1,000 sailors and Marines will be participating in Fleet Week Houston. "Our Navy looks forward to celebrating our 250th anniversary in Houston with you," he said.

The week-long celebration will include entertainment events, educational opportunities, community service activities, and chances for local leaders to engage with Navy leadership. The highlight of the event will be the arrival of three Navy vessels and over 1,000 sailors and Marines.

Mayor Whitmire expressed his pride in extending an invitation to Admiral Caudle and his acceptance to bring this tradition to Houston. "This is an honor for our city," he stated. "Fleet Week will strengthen the positive relationships between the military and our community while also allowing Houstonians and visitors from around the state to learn more about the U.S. Navy's proud history of courage and service."

Houston shares a special maritime connection with the Navy as billions of dollars worth of trade flow through the Houston Ship Channel every day. The Navy plays a crucial role in protecting this seaborne trade as it travels across oceans.

Fleet Week Houston will coincide with Veteran's Day celebrations in the city and serve as the closing event for the year-long celebrations of the Navy and Marine Corps' 250th anniversaries. In addition to the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, delegations from other branches of service and guests from around the state are expected to join in on the festivities.

The City of Houston is eagerly anticipating this exciting event and looks forward to welcoming members of the U.S. Armed Forces and visitors from all over to celebrate Fleet Week Houston.
