October 3, 2024 ~ Houston Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs Awards Grants to Support Artistic Creativity and Innovation

The City of Houston is recognizing and supporting the artistic community by awarding $71,500 in grants to 29 individuals and nonprofit organizations. These grants, administered by the Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) through the Let Creativity Happen program, aim to amplify artistic creativity and innovation within the city.

Necole S. Irvin, director of the City of Houston MOCA, expressed her excitement about the impact these grants will have on the community. "Houston's diverse arts and cultural offerings provide tremendous service to our community, attract visitors and support a strong creative sector," she said.

Funded by a portion of the city's Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT), Let Creativity Happen is a competitive grant program that opens three times annually. It encourages artists, creative individuals, and organizations to take risks and pursue innovative ideas that may not qualify for traditional funding opportunities.
