City of San Antonio Neighborhood & Housing Services announces home rehab application is open until September 19, 2022

SAN ANTONIO (August 03, 2022) – The Home Rehab Application is now open from August 8 – September 19, 2022. Funding will be available to assist qualified homeowners with major and minor repairs such as foundation/structural concerns, roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, and/or cooling repairs, water heater, and window or door improvements. The application will be available in both English and Spanish.

This year's Home Rehab Application will also select residents to utilize funding from the Housing Bond voters approved on May 7, 2022. The historic $1.2 billion 2022-2027 bond program includes $150 million dedicated to affordable housing of which $45 million is allocated to homeowner rehabilitation projects. The Neighborhood & Housing Services Department (NHSD) facilitated four community meetings in July about the housing bond categories, priorities, and timelines.

The 2023 Home Rehab Application will be available only online. Throughout the months of August and September, the department will host 14 city-wide outreach events to assist residents with application completion and submission. One consolidated online application will allow for San Antonio homeowners to qualify for the city's home rehabilitation programs, and residents will be selected utilizing an Equity Scoring Matrix prioritizing homes located in higher combined equity areas based on the City's Equity Atlas Combined Score, seniors, residents with disabilities, and homeowners that have resided in their homes for longer periods of time.  Residents that require assistance are encouraged to attend one of the events and bring required documents. These include: identification card or driver's license, social security card, proof of income and/or employment, three months of bank statements, and a mortgage/loan / home equity statement.

To further assist the San Antonio community, NHSD has partnered with two non-profits, Health Collaborative, and the University of Texas San Antonio Westside Community Relations, to transition to exclusively online applications.
