AUSTIN, Texas - Txylo -- Although the green economy and its related careers are still developing and expanding, the industry up until this point has been noticeably lacking in diversity. But a new resource site is hoping to help change that.
EcoCareers is an online jobs board and resource website for all jobs in sustainability, whether traditional green jobs like solar panel technicians or environmental scientists to jobs in industries that are newer to sustainability, like fashion and manufacturing. EcoCareers.org seeks to connect employers, hiring managers and HR personnel in the green sector with jobseekers and the top talent in their respective industries.
The sustainability sector has been experiencing intense, rapid growth over the last several years. It's projected to create millions more new, high-quality, high-paying jobs by 2030. But despite this massive potential, there is actually a shortage of skilled workers that is driving some businesses to be more flexible with hiring practices, even being more willing to offer apprenticeships or offer opportunities to people without hands-on experience.

"Right now is the perfect opportunity for someone keen on joining the green economy to get their start," says Joseph Boll, EcoCareers CEO. "This goes for jobseekers of all kinds, but minority communities have a particularly unique opportunity here because they have often been excluded from these kinds of spaces in the past."
The current labour market climate makes it the perfect time for visible minorities like women, African-Americans, people with disabilities and more to enter this emerging industry and make it the golden standard of diversity and inclusion around the world. But minority communities need support in joining industries where they have not been adequately represented up until this point.
By making it easy and accessible to find the best sustainable jobs spanning a wide range of positions, EcoCareers hopes to help encourage minority groups to join the sector. Rather than being shut out of conversations, networking and other opportunities to land highly-skilled, high-paying jobs that will have a positive impact on the environment, and therefore make a meaningful difference in the world, jobseekers can take advantage of resource sites like EcoCareers to get themselves in the game and that much closer to their dream green job.
