~ Baytown, Texas has officially been designated as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by Governor Greg Abbott. This recognition comes after the city successfully completed a multi-step training and certification process with the Texas Film Commission.
Governor Abbott congratulated Baytown on joining over 175 other communities in Texas that have received this prestigious designation. He stated, "Through the Film Friendly Texas training and certification process, Texas communities are prepared to help match local businesses with production-related needs, creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as spurring on-site spending at local businesses." The governor also expressed his gratitude to the Texas Film Commission for their efforts in helping communities like Baytown market their unique appeal and support job creation through media production.
City Manager Jason Reynolds shared his excitement about Baytown's recognition, saying "It's a privilege for Baytown to be recognized by Governor Abbott as a Film Friendly Texas Community." He also highlighted the city's history of being featured in popular films such as John Wayne and Robocop, and expressed enthusiasm for showcasing Baytown's potential to new filmmakers.
