~ Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the Texas Music Office (TMO), in partnership with the City of Buda and Discover Buda TX, will be hosting a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on October 30. The workshop will be available both in-person and virtually.
According to Governor Abbott, music is a crucial part of the Texas brand and plays a significant role in local economies. He expressed his gratitude to the TMO for their efforts in helping communities across the state develop creative partnerships and create new job opportunities. With support from the TMO, the Texas music industry has contributed to over 192,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates more than $26 billion in annual economic activity statewide. Governor Abbott believes that by working alongside local leaders like those in Buda, Texas communities will have the necessary tools to succeed.
The workshop will feature TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Gini Mascorro, who will explain the Music Friendly Texas Community designation and its benefits. She will also be available to answer any questions from participants.

The Music Friendly Texas program was introduced by TMO in 2016 and is the first of its kind in the nation. It provides communities in Texas with a network for fostering music industry development and sends a clear message to industry professionals that certified communities are serious about attracting and developing music industry growth. The Buda workshop is the first step towards certification, which would make Buda one of over 65 other cities in Texas to earn this designation.
Musicians, venues, and members of the general public are welcome to attend either in-person or online through a virtual platform. The workshop will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30 at the Buda Welcome Center located at 303 S. Main Street, Buda TX 78610. For those joining virtually, they can access the meeting through bit.ly/TMO_Buda using Meeting ID: 246 534 336 982 and Passcode: Chs7Je.
