~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott revealed that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request for two disaster declarations in Texas. The first declaration is for South Texas communities affected by the Welder Fire, while the second is for North Texas communities impacted by severe weather earlier this month.
Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude for the approval of these declarations, stating that they will provide much-needed assistance to those affected by these disasters. He also commended the emergency management team in Texas for their swift response to these challenges and emphasized the importance of working together with federal partners to support Texans in their recovery efforts.
The disaster declaration for the Welder Fire includes Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio counties. Meanwhile, the severe weather declaration covers Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall, and Tarrant counties.
As part of the disaster declarations, the SBA has granted access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. These low-interest loans will be available to qualifying homeowners, renters, and businesses in both North and South Texas.
