~ In a press event held in Taipei, Governor Greg Abbott announced the state's plan to open a State of Texas Taiwan Office as part of a three-nation economic development mission to Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. The office aims to strengthen the economic and cultural cooperation between Texas and Taiwan, promoting more trade, investment, and collaboration.
During the event, Governor Abbott stated that Texas and Taiwan are critical economic partners that seek to drive innovation in the future. He also announced two key initiatives that will help bolster the economic relationship between the two regions - an economic agreement and the establishment of a State of Texas Taiwan Office. These initiatives are expected to bring unprecedented prosperity for both peoples.
The signing ceremony for the State of Texas Taiwan Office was preceded by Governor Abbott's signing of an Economic Development Statement of Intent (EDSI) with Taiwanese Minister of Economic Affairs Jyh-Huei Kuo. This statement aims to further boost investment, expand trade, spur job creation, and increase innovation in critical industries between Texas and Taiwan. It prioritizes collaboration in sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicles, energy resilience, and more.
