~ In a move to further solidify Texas' position as a leader in the semiconductor industry, Governor Greg Abbott announced today that FormFactor Inc. has been granted $24.2 million from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) for their new probe card manufacturing facility in Farmers Branch. This advanced manufacturing facility is expected to create over 600 jobs and bring in an estimated $140 million to $170 million in capital investment by 2026.
Governor Abbott expressed his excitement about FormFactor's decision to expand their operations in Texas, stating that "Texas is where the technologies of tomorrow are manufactured today." He congratulated the company on their choice to invest in the state and highlighted the significant impact it will have on job creation and economic growth.
FormFactor, a leading provider of electrical and optical test and measurement technologies for the semiconductor industry, will use this new facility to produce their core probe card products. These components are crucial for testing integrated circuits during wafer-level manufacturing.
FormFactor CEO Mike Slessor also expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership with the state of Texas, stating that "we play a critical role in the global semiconductor industry" and are grateful for Texas' support of their growth and expansion.

Senator Tan Parker, who represents Senate District 12 where the new facility will be located, emphasized the importance of investing in industries that drive economic growth and technological innovation. He praised FormFactor's investment as a "tremendous win" for North Texas and a strengthening of America's semiconductor supply chain.
Representative Cassandra Garcia Hernandez echoed these sentiments, calling the TSIF grant a "monumental win" for Farmers Branch and highlighting its potential to bring hundreds of high-skilled jobs to the local community. She also emphasized how this strategic investment aligns with Texas' commitment to remaining at the forefront of global technological innovation while sustaining its booming economy.
The TSIF grant was made possible by Governor Abbott's signing of the Texas CHIPS Act in 2023, which established the fund and the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium (TSIC). These programs, administered by the Texas CHIPS Office within the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, aim to leverage Texas' investments in the semiconductor industry and encourage companies to expand in the state. They also seek to develop the expertise and capacity of Texas institutions of higher education and maintain the state's position as a leader in semiconductor manufacturing.
With this new investment from FormFactor, Texas continues to solidify its position as a global leader in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing. The state's commitment to supporting this industry not only drives economic growth but also plays a crucial role in national security.
