~ Austin, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has recently announced the appointment of Joelle McRee, D.D.S. to the Texas Radiation Advisory Board (TRAB). McRee's term is set to expire on April 16, 2027. In addition, the Governor has reappointed six members to the board for terms set to expire on April 16, 2031. These members include Michael Britt, Joe Markham, Darlene Metter, M.D., Kenneth "Ken" Peters Ed.D., Robert "Bob" Redweik, and Darshan Sachde, Ph.D.
The TRAB is responsible for advising the state on radiation issues and reviewing the rules, policies, and programs of state agencies that regulate radiation. With their expertise and knowledge in this field, these individuals will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Texans.
Joelle McRee brings a wealth of experience to the board as an associate periodontist at Periodontal Surgical Arts in Austin. She is a member of various professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association. McRee holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University (TAMU) and has received her Master of Science, Doctor of Dental Surgery, and Certificate in Periodontics from The University of Texas (UT) Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.
Michael Britt from New Braunfels is another valuable addition to the board. With over 24 years in the insurance industry as owner of Britt Claims and Consulting Services, he brings a unique perspective to TRAB. Britt is also actively involved in his community as past president of Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation and past member of various organizations such as New Braunfels Fraternal Order of Eagles and Canyon Lake Lions Club.

Joe Markham from Keller serves as a lieutenant with City of Arlington Fire Department. He also holds positions such as secretary and treasurer of the Arlington Professional Fire Fighters (APFF) and delegate for the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters and the International Association of Fire Fighters. Markham holds a Bachelor of Science in Health from Lamar University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from TAMU.
Kenneth "Ken" Peters Ed.D. from Granbury is currently the executive vice president and chief nuclear officer for Luminant. He also serves as chair of the Utilities Service Alliance Board of Directors. Peters holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech University, and a Doctor of Education from Louisiana State University - Shreveport.
Darlene Metter, M.D. from San Antonio is a tenured Professor at UT Health San Antonio, specializing in Radiology and Family and Community Medicine. She has an impressive resume, having served as chair for various committees such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Nuclear Medicine Residency Review Committee. Metter is also a Fellow of prestigious organizations such as the American College of Radiology, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), and American College of Nuclear Medicine.

Robert "Bob" Redweik from Tomball brings his expertise as vice president for Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory at Citation Oil & Gas Corp to TRAB. He has previously held positions such as committee chair for the American Petroleum Institute and director for Ground Water Protection Council. Redweik holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University, New Orleans.
Darshan Sachde, Ph.D., based in Austin, is currently a senior process chemical engineer at Trimeric Corporation. He has previously worked with Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Austin Energy. Sachde holds multiple degrees including Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Master of Science in Public Affairs and Environmental Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from UT Austin.
