~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Erin Smith, O.T.D., and Lynn Wilde to the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners. Eddie Jessie has also been reappointed to the board. These appointments are for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031.
The Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners is responsible for licensing and regulating occupational therapy services in the state. With these new appointments, the board will continue its important work in ensuring high-quality occupational therapy services for Texans.
Erin Smith, O.T.D., hailing from Dallas, brings a wealth of experience to the board. She is an occupational therapist and hand therapist at OrthoTexas and is a member of prestigious organizations such as the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Hand Therapy Academy. Smith also has a strong background in volunteer work with organizations like Lake Highlands Church and Feed Lake Highlands. She holds a Master of Occupational Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman's University.

Joining Smith on the board is Lynn Wilde from Houston. Wilde is a certified occupational therapy assistant with the Harris County Department of Education. She also serves as a board member for Lone Star College's Advisory Committee for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and is a former member of TOTA. Wilde received her Associate of Applied Sciences in Occupational Therapy Assistant at LSC - Tomball.
Eddie Jessie, who has been reappointed to the board, brings valuable expertise as an aftercare housing coordinator at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD Services in Houston. He has previously served as co-chair of the Houston Mayor's Commission on Disabilities and as an advisory board member for the Texas A&M University Center on Disability and Development. Jessie holds both a Bachelor of Science in social work and criminal justice and a Master of Arts in sociology and counseling from Prairie View A&M University.
With these appointments, Governor Abbott has ensured that the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners will continue to have a diverse and experienced team working towards the betterment of occupational therapy services in the state.
