~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed two new members and reappointed one member to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. Cheryl Sinacola and Jarrod Robertson have been appointed, while Gregory New has been reappointed to the council for terms set to expire on September 1, 2028.
The Texas Crime Stoppers Council serves as an advisory body to the Governor on matters related to crime stoppers programs in the state. It is also responsible for certifying local crime stoppers programs in order for them to receive repayments of rewards or payments of probation fees as outlined in the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Cheryl Sinacola, a resident of Fairview, brings a wealth of experience to the council. She currently serves as the vice chair of the Crime Stoppers USA Board of Directors and co-chair of its Training Committee and Awards Committee. In addition, she holds positions as vice chair of North Texas Crime Stoppers, president of KickStart Kids Dallas Community Board, and former board member of North Texas Crime Commission. Sinacola holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Michigan State University.

Jarrod Robertson, a police officer with 22 years of experience at the Amarillo Police Department, has also been appointed to the council. He currently serves as the police coordinator for Student Crime Stoppers (SCS) in Amarillo and has been involved with SCS since 2012. Robertson is also a member of Tobacco Free Amarillo Board of Directors and Andrea's Project Board of Directors.
Gregory New, who hails from Waxahachie, has been reappointed to the council. He is currently a police officer and crime stoppers coordinator for Grand Prairie Police Department. New is also an active member of various organizations such as Texas Municipal Police Association, Grand Prairie Police Association, and Thomas B. Hunter Masonic Lodge #1356. He also serves as chair for the Texas Crime Stoppers Council.
The Texas Crime Stoppers Council plays a crucial role in promoting and supporting crime stoppers programs throughout the state. With the addition of these three experienced individuals, the council is well-equipped to continue its important work in keeping Texas communities safe.
