~ During a graduation ceremony at Great Hills Baptist Church, Governor Greg Abbott praised the bravery of the new DPS Recruit Class A-2025 and celebrated the Texas Department of Public Safety's (DPS) 90th anniversary. The ceremony marked the completion of a rigorous 30-week training program for over 120 graduate troopers.

In his keynote address, Governor Abbott acknowledged the significant role that DPS plays in keeping Texas safe and commended the troopers for their dedication to serving the state. He also highlighted the agency's long-standing history and its continued importance in modern times.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to the graduates for their service to Texas and congratulated them on their tremendous achievement. He emphasized that they are now part of a legacy built by heroes and encouraged them to continue upholding the high standards set by DPS.

The DPS A-2025 graduates come from diverse backgrounds, with 52 military veterans, 19 women, 14 with prior law enforcement experience, and 55 who speak more than one language. They will report to their individual duty stations on September 1, 2025.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Public Safety Commission (PSC) Commissioner Larry Long, PSC Commissioner Nelda Luce Blair, DPS Director Freeman Martin, and other state and law enforcement officials. Together, they joined in celebrating the accomplishments of these brave new troopers who will play a crucial role in keeping Texas safe for years to come.
