~ Frisco, Texas - Governor Greg Abbott has extended his congratulations to the City of Frisco for being designated as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This recognition comes after the city successfully completed a multi-step certification process in the inaugural year of the program.
The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation is a testament to Visit Frisco's commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy. It also highlights their efforts to create more job opportunities and attract visitors from all over the nation and world to their community and to Texas.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism in both local and state economies, stating that it supports one in 11 jobs across Texas. He also noted that travelers to and within Texas generate over $193 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs statewide.
He encouraged all communities in Texas to apply for this designation, stating that it will further promote local tourism and create more job opportunities across the state.
Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell also praised Frisco for its achievements, stating that the city has become known as a sports powerhouse and family-friendly destination. He highlighted popular attractions such as The Star, Toyota Stadium, KidZania, and the National Videogame Museum that draw visitors of all ages.
