~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott praised the City of Ingleside for being designated as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This recognition comes after the city successfully completed a multi-step certification process in the inaugural year of the program.
The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation is a testament to Ingleside's commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy. It also aims to boost local job creation and attract more visitors from across the nation and around the world.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism to both local and state economies, stating that it supports one in 11 jobs in Texas. He also highlighted that travelers to and within Texas generate over $199 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state.
He encouraged all communities in Texas to apply for this designation, stating that every region of the state offers endless opportunities for visitors to experience its natural beauty, rich history, and true Texas hospitality.
Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell also commended Ingleside for earning this recognition, stating that it highlights the city's role as a welcoming coastal retreat. With its world-class fishing, scenic boating routes, and relaxed waterfront setting, Ingleside offers visitors a place to explore and unwind.
