~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the City of Mineral Wells for being designated as the fourth Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This recognition comes after the city completed a multi-step certification process and showcases their commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism to both the local and state economies, stating that it supports one in 11 jobs across Texas. In 2023, travelers to and within Texas generated over $193.8 billion in economic impact and supported 1.3 million jobs. He encouraged all communities in Texas to apply for this certification in order to further grow local tourism and create more job opportunities.
Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell also praised Mineral Wells for its unique offerings that capture the spirit of Texas. With its scenic state park, iconic Crazy Water, and charming historic hotels, Mineral Wells has become a premier destination for wellness enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
Senator Phil King also expressed his congratulations to Mineral Wells, highlighting the city's welcoming atmosphere and array of local attractions such as the famous Crazy Water, Clark Gardens Botanical Park, and various outdoor activities.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park Superintendent Nikki Elms added that visitors from all over come to enjoy nature, history, and mineral waters in Mineral Wells.
Nate Dyhre, City of Mineral Wells Community Development Director, emphasized how tourism has been vital to the growth of their community. He stated that Mineral Wells is known as the Wellness Capital of Texas because people choose to visit there for outdoor activities.
The Tourism Friendly Texas Community program is open to local governments or non-profit organizations that lead tourism promotion efforts. The benefits of this designation include strengthening relationships, educating local leaders on the importance of tourism, and identifying strategies for growth.
