Governor Abbott Deploys Texas Emergency Management Resources To Support New Mexico

~ In response to the devastating wildfires and flash flooding in New Mexico, Governor Greg Abbott has deployed Texas emergency management resources to assist in the state's response efforts. As hurricane season continues, Texans are all too familiar with the destructive impact of severe weather.

Governor Abbott stated, "While the initial force of Tropical Storm Alberto dissipates, Texas was able to swiftly and effectively respond thanks to the critical work our state's first responders and emergency response personnel do to protect and assist Texas communities." He also emphasized the importance of helping neighboring states in times of crisis, saying, "Today, I am deploying emergency management personnel to assist our neighbors in New Mexico as they face wildfire and flash flooding impacts."

Under the direction of Governor Abbott, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and Texas A&M Forest Service have deployed emergency management personnel this morning through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). These individuals will provide support to New Mexico's Emergency Operations Center in various roles such as response operations, planning, logistics, public information, finance, and geographic information systems.
