~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has signed Senate Bill 14, also known as Texas DOGE, into law at the state Capitol in Austin. This bill, passed during the 89th Regular Legislative Session, aims to make the Texas government more efficient and less intrusive in the daily lives of Texans.
During the bill signing ceremony, Governor Abbott stated, "We are putting at the forefront of legislation the shaping, formation, and recalibration of government in the State of Texas to make it more responsive and more efficient." He went on to explain that this law will establish the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO), which will work towards slashing regulations and implementing stricter standards for new regulations that could be costly for businesses. The goal is to put a check on the growth of the administrative state and make government operations more efficient and cost-effective.
The Governor was joined by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Senator Phil King, Representative Giovanni Capriglione, National Federation of Independent Business Texas State Director Jeff Burdett, and other members of the Texas Legislature and business leaders at the bill signing.
