~ Fort Worth, Texas - Governor Greg Abbott celebrated the grand opening of the New Heights Adult High School in Fort Worth today, highlighting the state's commitment to providing education and training for a highly-skilled workforce. The school, which is a partnership between Tarrant County College and local employers, aims to provide adults between the ages of 18 and 50 with the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and critical training certificates for in-demand, well-paying jobs.

During his speech at the ceremony, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of investing in education and job training programs. He also praised the Texas Workforce Commission for their work in awarding job and career training grants to Texans across the state. The Governor also highlighted Senate Bill 2032 and House Bill 8, which he signed into law last year to further address workforce needs and create more opportunities for Texans to succeed in the state's thriving economy.

"New Heights is not just a school," said Governor Abbott. "It is a critical tool in our efforts to provide the education and training needed to develop a workforce for the bigger, better Texas we are building for the next generation." He also noted that there are nearly six million Texans who did not finish their high school education for various reasons, but it's never too late for a new beginning.

Prior to the ceremony, Governor Abbott toured a classroom where he had the opportunity to speak with current students who are receiving career training in high-demand industries. The Governor was joined at the event by Senator Brandon Creighton, Senator Phil King, Representative Ben Bumgarner, Representative Nicole Collier, Representative David Cook, Representative Craig Goldman, Mayor Mattie Parker, Mayor Pro Tempore Gyna Bivens, New Heights School CEO Traci Berry, Tarrant County College Chancellor Dr. Elva LeBlanc, and other education and community leaders.

In his closing remarks, Governor Abbott reaffirmed his belief that investing in the future workforce is crucial for Texas to remain the Best State for Business, the best state for jobs, and the best state for opportunity. The grand opening of New Heights Adult High School is just one example of the state's commitment to providing Texans with the tools they need to succeed in today's economy.
