October 31, 2024 ~ Houston, TX- On October 31, 2024, Mayor John Whitmire extended an invitation to the public for the annual "Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration." This event is a way to honor and celebrate the brave men, women, and families who have fought for our liberty and freedom.
The ceremony will take place on Monday, November 11 at City Hall located at 901 Bagby St. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and feature Vice Admiral James W. Crawford III as the keynote speaker. Vice Admiral Crawford is also the President of Texas Southern University.
The day's schedule includes a ceremony starting at 10 a.m., followed by a 21 Gun Salute and a Moment of Silence at 11:00 a.m. in honor of the signing of the WWI Armistice. The Houston Salutes American Heroes Parade will then commence at 11:30 a.m.

Houston has become a cornerstone for Veterans Day celebrations in the United States. As a city, Houston takes great pride in paying tribute to our men and women in the military. To make attending this event easier for guests, parking will be free at the Theater District Tranquility Parking Garage with entrances #2 and #5 providing complimentary parking.
This event would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors such as HCA Houston Healthcare, UTHealth Houston, EOG Resources Inc., Grace After Fire, LyondellBasell, Panama-Texas Connection Foundation, McDonald's Houston, and Radio One Houston. The Mayor's Office of Special Events is responsible for producing this event which benefits Houston Civic Events Inc.
