WASHINGTON, April 23, 2025 ~ Houston, Texas - NASA's Johnson Space Center will be hosting a news conference at 2 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 28th to share details of astronaut Don Pettit's recent mission aboard the International Space Station. The event will be streamed live on NASA's website and media are invited to attend in person or participate by phone.

Pettit, a NASA astronaut and Expedition 72 Flight Engineer, spent 220 days in space as part of his fourth spaceflight. He returned to Earth on April 19th (April 20th in Kazakhstan time) along with Roscosmos cosmonauts Alexey Ovchinin and Ivan Vagner. The news conference will also include a live question and answer session with Pettit on NASA's Instagram account.

During his time on the space station, Pettit conducted numerous scientific investigations including research to improve metal 3D printing capabilities, advance water sanitization technologies, study plant growth under varying water conditions, and observe fire behavior in microgravity. These findings will contribute to future space missions.

Pettit also shared his photography skills while aboard the space station, posting images to his X account. He took over 670,000 photos during his stay.

The news conference is open to U.S. media who must contact the NASA Johnson newsroom by Thursday, April 24th at 5 p.m. for in-person attendance or two hours before the event for phone participation. Questions can also be submitted through social media using #AskNASA.
