In a statement, Vanessa Wyche expressed her pride in hosting this historic event on behalf of NASA's Johnson Space Center. She emphasized the importance of honoring the significant contributions made by women in the space industry, especially those who overcame numerous challenges during their time. As NASA prepares for its Artemis missions, which will see the first woman and first person of color land on the Moon, Wyche sees it as a privilege to dedicate Building 12 to the pioneering women who laid the foundation for our nation's space program.

Dorothy Vaughan's unwavering dedication and determination during the Apollo missions not only advanced diversity within NASA's workforce and leadership at Johnson but also supported Mission Control from Building 12 as human computers transitioned from Langley Research Center in Virginia to Houston. She was a strong advocate for her fellow female colleagues and all those under her leadership.
