SAN ANTONIO (January 12, 2021) – The Department of Human Services, in coordination with Workforce Solutions Alamo, is working to increase program enrollment and waitlist opportunities for Bexar and surrounding rural county families.

Workforce Solutions Alamo, through the Department of Human Services' Child Care Services Division provides subsidized childcare assistance to eligible families throughout the Alamo Region, which includes Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson counties. Enrollment in the childcare program is subject to the availability of funds and eligible families will be waitlisted for enrollment as slots become available.

Child Care Services intake is currently open and the waitlist is at an all-time low. Normally average time on the waitlist is one to two years. However, at this time families may be able to enroll in as little as one month or sooner if they meet eligibility requirements.

Families who are working, participating in workforce training programs, and/or enrolled in education classes should take advantage of current enrollment opportunities. Interested parents/guardians may find more information or apply for the waitlist by visiting https://workforcesolutionsalamo.org/apply-for-child-care/. If a family has already applied for Child Care Services, and is currently on the waitlist, they do not need to reapply.
