SAN ANTONIO (March 24, 2020) – Out of an abundance of caution, Animal Care Services (ACS) has changed its critical shelter business processes in light of the City's Stay Home, Work Safe orders to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Effective Wednesday, March 25th, Animal Care Services will stop public intake on campus at 4710 State Highway 151. Residents who find roaming animals should call 3-1-1 or use the 3-1-1 app for an ACS officer rather than bringing the pet to the shelter. Additionally, starting immediately, residents will need to make an appointment to facilitate critical shelter services such as placement or owner returns. The following links will direct residents to the service of their choice:

ACS is also strongly encouraging residents to reconsider surrendering any pets to the shelter during this difficult time. Owner surrenders will only be done on a limited basis based on capacity and residents may email acsintake@sanantonio.gov for further information. Animal Care Officers will maintain patrols to address public safety calls and ACS teams remain in place to care for the pets on campus.stats
