SAN ANTONIO (January 12, 2021) – The City of San Antonio's Department of Arts & Culture and Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission today announced that Yesenia Morin's artwork titled "It Takes All of Us" is the winner of the commission's sixth annual Citywide Art Contest. Morin's entry will be used as the visual representation of the 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Virtual March.
Morin, an 11-year-old student at Northside Independent School District's Bernal Middle School, created her artwork using computer graphics and digital illustrations. Using Procreate, an art application, Morin's art piece depicts people of all races and ethnicities holding hands in unity with the San Antonio skyline and the 2021 theme of #WeRiseUpforJustice behind them. The artwork was selected by a panel based on its concept, artistic imagery, visual presentation and originality.
