~ Governor Greg Abbott has announced an update to the state's disaster declaration for severe weather, adding two coastal communities to the list of areas impacted by recent storms. The counties of Victoria and Calhoun have been included in the declaration, with the possibility of more counties being added as needed.
According to Governor Abbott, this updated declaration will ensure that affected Texans have access to all necessary resources for rebuilding their homes and businesses. He also expressed gratitude for the assistance of federal partners in helping those affected move forward from this severe weather event.
In addition to the disaster declaration, Governor Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to request officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to join state and local partners in conducting preliminary damage assessments in coastal communities. These assessments will help determine if the state meets the thresholds for additional federal disaster assistance.

Officials are currently reviewing self-reported damage information from Texans through TDEM's Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) survey. Affected individuals are urged to report storm damage using this survey at damage.tdem.texas.gov when it is safe to do so. This information will assist state and local officials in assessing the full scale of the disaster and determining what additional resources may be needed for impacted areas.
Governor Abbott has been taking swift action to provide support for communities affected by severe weather. This includes requesting SBA assistance for North Texas communities, adding Palo Pinto County to the disaster declaration, and issuing a separate declaration for North Texas storms. He has also activated state emergency response resources ahead of potential severe weather risks.
Texans are encouraged to visit TDEM's Disaster Portal at disaster.texas.gov for up-to-date information on severe weather events. The governor remains committed to providing all available resources to support those affected by these storms.
