~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has declared a state of disaster in several counties due to ongoing fire weather conditions. The proclamation, issued on August 10, 2025 and subsequently amended and renewed, states that the increased fire weather conditions pose an imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management has confirmed that these dangerous conditions persist in certain counties within the state. As a result, Governor Abbott has exercised his authority under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code to amend and renew the proclamation and officially declare a disaster in Andrews, Aransas, Archer, Armstrong, Atascosa, Austin, Bailey, Bandera, Bastrop and many other counties.
Pursuant to Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott has authorized the use of all available resources from state government and political subdivisions to cope with this disaster. This includes suspending any regulatory statutes or orders that may hinder necessary action in response to the disaster.

In accordance with Section 418.016 of the Texas Government Code, any state statutes or administrative rules regarding contracting or procurement will also be suspended for the duration of this declared disaster if they impede emergency response efforts.
The Governor's proclamation will be filed with applicable authorities as required by law. It was signed on February 7th, 2026 at Governor Abbott's office in Austin and attested by Secretary of State Jane Nelson.
