~ This week, Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments to various councils and task forces in order to better serve the people of Texas. Among these appointments are Lindsey Gohlke and Romey Swanson, who have been selected to serve on the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council.
Gohlke has been newly appointed while Swanson has been reappointed for a term set to expire on February 1, 2031. The council's main responsibilities include advising and assisting the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP) with its operations and selecting applicants for grants.
In addition, Governor Abbott has also named Peter J. Holt as chair of the Governor's Task Force on the Governance of Early Childhood Education and Care. Holt will be joined by Jeff Austin III, Leslie Callahan, Lori Gabbert Charney, Grant Coates, Reagan Curran, Tracy Hanson Ed.D., Marisela Nava, John "J." Puckett, Jennifer Stockemer Ph.D., and Nancy Windham. All members have been appointed for terms set to expire on September 1, 2027.

The purpose of this task force is to address the challenges faced by the early childhood education system in Texas. This includes issues related to governance and operations.
Lastly, Governor Abbott has appointed Scott Charbonneau to the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless. Charbonneau's term will expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The council's role is to coordinate state resources and services in order to effectively address homelessness in Texas.
These appointments demonstrate Governor Abbott's commitment to improving various aspects of life for Texans through qualified individuals serving on these important councils and task forces.
