~ After 22 years of dedicated service to the state of Texas, Governor Greg Abbott's Senior Advisor and Budget Director, Sarah Hicks, has announced her departure from the Office of the Governor. Hicks joined the governor's team in October 2017 and has played a crucial role in the passage of significant policies and legislation during her tenure.

Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude for Hicks' contributions, stating, "Sarah Hicks has been an invaluable, trusted advisor and provided substantial experience and knowledge to my office and to Texas." He also praised her unwavering dedication to serving her fellow Texans, calling it "nothing short of incredible."

Hicks' leadership and guidance have been instrumental in passing critical initiatives during three legislative sessions and multiple special sessions. She played a key role in crafting financial strategies to support Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts, school finance and property tax reform, as well as border security policy.

The governor is confident that Hicks will continue to excel in her future endeavors. He stated, "I am confident that Sarah will bring the same level of commitment and excellence in her next endeavor."

Before joining the Office of the Governor as Budget Director in 2017, Hicks served as Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of State Relations at the Texas A&M University System. She also worked as the Committee Director for former State Senators Tommy Williams and Steve Ogden on the Texas Senate Committee on Finance.

Hicks holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a Master of Public Service Administration from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. Her extensive experience and education have made her an invaluable asset to Governor Abbott's team.
