~ Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has received federal approval to automatically provide replacement benefits for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients in Fort Bend and Washington counties. This approval comes as part of the ongoing efforts to assist Texans in recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
The federal approval means that SNAP recipients in these two counties, along with 18 others, will now be eligible for automatic replacement benefits. This will help those who have lost or had their food destroyed during the hurricane to put fresh and healthy food back on their tables.
Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude towards the Texas Health and Human Services Commission for their tireless work in collaborating with federal partners to ensure that resources and assistance are provided to impacted communities.
Molly Regan, Texas HHSC Deputy Executive Commissioner of Access and Eligibility Services, also commented on the approval, stating that they are grateful to be able to provide support to families in need during this difficult time.
