~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Fernando Fernandez to the Governor's Committee to Support the Military. Fernandez, who hails from Nolanville, will serve on the committee for a term that will expire at the pleasure of the Governor.

The committee's main focus is to study and provide recommendations on how to maintain and improve military value at existing military installations in Texas. They also aim to make Texas a more attractive destination for additional military missions.

Fernandez brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. He currently serves as the vice president of military banking at First National Bank Texas. He is also a board member of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas and the Killeen Independent School District Education Foundation.

In addition, Fernandez is an active member of various organizations such as the Association of the United States Army - Central Texas Chapter Board of Governors and the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Prior to his civilian career, Fernandez served in the United States Army for 21 years until his retirement in 2016 at Fort Cavazos. With his extensive background in both military and civilian sectors, Fernandez is well-equipped to contribute valuable insights to the committee's efforts.
