~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Jason Keeling and reappointed Arden "Trey" Hill, III to the Board of Pilot Commissioners for Galveston County Ports. Their terms are set to expire on February 1, 2028. Additionally, the Governor has appointed Elizabeth Cross and reappointed Terrilyn Tarlton-Shannon for terms set to expire on February 1, 2027.

The Board of Pilot Commissioners for Galveston County Ports holds exclusive jurisdiction over the piloting of vessels on navigable streams within their jurisdiction. This important board plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe navigation of ships in and out of Galveston County ports.

Jason Keeling, a resident of Hitchcock, brings a wealth of experience to the board. He is an entrepreneur and owner of RE/MAX Leading Edge as well as a former owner of Ryson Vacation Rentals. Keeling is also actively involved in his community as a committee member of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce C-Crewe. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Business Administration from Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Arden "Trey" Hill, III hails from Friendswood and is the CEO of Hill Sand Company and Dark Horse Investments. He is also the managing partner of Hill Gage Development. With his extensive background in business and development, Hill will bring valuable insights to the board. He is currently vice president of the Friendswood Downtown Economic Development Corporation and has previously served as president of Friendswood Capital Corporation and as a board member for Texan Bank. In addition to his professional endeavors, Hill is also actively involved in his community through organizations such as Friendswood Youth Football and Cheer Association and the Mike Doiron Legends of Friendswood Golf Tournament. He attended Texas State University.

Elizabeth Cross, a resident of Tiki Island, joins the board with an impressive background in real estate. She is currently a vice president at Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis (CBRE) and has previously held positions at JLL and Integra Realty Resources. Cross is also a member of the Appraisal Institute, where she holds an MAI designation, and serves as a board member and treasurer for the Houston Chapter. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Terrilyn Tarlton-Shannon, a Galveston resident, brings a diverse set of skills to the board. She is the owner of Insurance Junction, Inc. and has previously served as a member of the Galveston City Council. Tarlton-Shannon is also actively involved in various professional organizations such as the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas and Professional Insurance Agents of Texas. In her community, she serves as a board member for the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, past president of Galveston Friends of Business, and past chair of the Galveston Planning Commission. She attended The University of Texas at Austin.
