~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently announced the appointment of Lindsey Gohlke and the reappointment of Romey Swanson to the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council. Both individuals will serve on the council for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031.
The primary duties of the council include advising and assisting the Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP) with the administration of the program. They are also responsible for selecting applicants to receive grants from the program. The overall goal of TFRLCP is to conserve working lands that hold high values for water, fish and wildlife, as well as agricultural production.
Lindsey Gohlke, a resident of Oglesby, brings a wealth of experience to her new role on the council. She currently serves as a lender at Security Bank of Texas and is an active member of both the Texas Bankers Association and Independent Banker Association. Gohlke is also involved in her local community as a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and McLennan County Farm Bureau. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Ag Communication and Journalism from Texas A&M University.

Romey Swanson, who resides in Austin, has been reappointed to his position on the council. He currently serves as executive director of Devils River Conservancy and holds leadership roles in various organizations such as the Texas Ornithological Society and Texas Herpetological Society. Swanson's past experience includes serving as president of the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society and he currently sits on the board of directors for the Texas Land Trust Council. He received his Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology from Texas State University.
With their diverse backgrounds and expertise, both Gohlke and Swanson are well-equipped to fulfill their duties on the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council. Their contributions will play a crucial role in achieving TFRLCP's goal of preserving valuable working lands in Texas.
