~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Katherine McDaniel to the 498th Judicial District Court in Kendall County. McDaniel, a resident of Boerne, will serve for a term that expires on December 31, 2026, or until her successor is elected and qualified.

McDaniel brings a wealth of experience to her new role as she currently serves as the first assistant district attorney for the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney's Office. She has also been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Texas Violent Gang Task Force and is a member of various legal associations such as the Texas District and County Attorneys' Association Journal Editorial Board, State Bar of Texas, Kendall County Bar Association, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Prosecutors' Society.

In addition to her legal work, McDaniel is actively involved in her community. She serves as a steering committee member for the Kendall County Behavioral Health Advisory Coalition and is also the secretary of the board of directors for the Boerne Police Foundation. Furthermore, she is the sports banquet chair of the TMI School Community Engagement Council and has presented on search and seizure law across the country.

McDaniel holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law. With her extensive background in law and dedication to serving her community, McDaniel is well-equipped to fulfill her duties on the 498th Judicial District Court with excellence.
