~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Roel "Roy" Rodriguez, P.E. to the State Pension Review Board for a term that will end on January 31, 2029. The Board is responsible for reviewing all public retirement systems in Texas, both at the state and local level, to ensure they are financially sound and in compliance with state laws.

Rodriguez, a resident of McAllen, brings a wealth of experience to this role. He recently retired from his position as city manager for the City of McAllen and is a member of several professional organizations including the Texas City Managers Association (TCMA), American Society of Civil Engineers, and South Texas College Public Administration Advisory Council. He also serves as president of TCMA Region 10.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rodriguez has also served as a director for the Lower Rio Grande Water Committee and was appointed by the governor to the Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of Trustees. During his time on the board from 2005 to 2018, he held the position of chairman twice.

Rodriguez's dedication to public service extends beyond his professional career. He is actively involved in his community through various roles at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M – Kingsville and a Master of Public Administration from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

With his extensive background in both engineering and public administration, Rodriguez is well-equipped to contribute to the State Pension Review Board's important work in ensuring the financial stability of retirement systems across Texas. His term will begin immediately and continue until January 2029.
