Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Sloan, Jackson To Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed two individuals to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority. Thomas "Tom" Sloan and Scott Jackson will serve on the authority for terms set to expire in 2027 and 2029, respectively.

The Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority is responsible for assessing the extent of motor vehicle crime in Texas and providing support to law enforcement through grants, initiatives to reduce auto theft, education, and public awareness.

Sloan, a resident of Leander, brings a wealth of experience to the authority. He currently serves as the commander of the investigations division for the Round Rock Police Department. With memberships in prestigious organizations such as the FBI National Academy Associates and the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Sloan is well-equipped to contribute to the authority's efforts. He also has a background in military service as a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association. In addition to his professional commitments, Sloan volunteers with Friends of Los Ninos. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Public Service Administration from Texas A&M University.

Joining Sloan on the authority is Scott Jackson from San Antonio. Jackson brings over 20 years of law enforcement experience to his role as leader of USAA's property and casualty investigations unit. He also serves on both the National Insurance Crime Bureau Board of Governors and Coalition Against Insurance Fraud Board of Governors.

With these two highly qualified individuals joining its ranks, the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority is well-positioned to continue its important work in combating motor vehicle crime in Texas.
