~ In a proclamation issued today, Governor Greg Abbott has called for a statewide moment of silence to be observed at 7:00 AM CDT on October 7, 2024. This moment of silence is meant to honor the victims who lost their lives in the tragic acts of war committed by the terrorist organization Hamas. It is also a time to remember those who are still being held hostage by this brutal group.

To further show respect and remembrance for those affected by these attacks, Governor Abbott has ordered that both the Texas and U.S. flags be lowered to half-staff on Monday, October 7th, 2024. He has also requested that religious leaders light a candle during their next service in observance of this solemn day.
