TDEM, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), have already begun preparing over 100 firefighters and emergency management personnel, as well as more than 25 fire engines, command vehicles, and equipment for deployment. This coordinated effort falls under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which allows states to provide assistance and share resources with one another during disasters or emergencies.

EMAC members can share resources from all disciplines and are protected while deployed. They are also able to be reimbursed for any mission-related costs. For more information on EMAC, visit emacweb.org.

Governor Abbott's swift response to this request for assistance showcases the strong bond between states during times of need. The deployment of these resources will greatly aid in containing and extinguishing these devastating wildfires in California.
