~ In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to deploy emergency power generators to assist with recovery efforts in Georgia. This decision came after a request from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.
Governor Abbott, who understands the devastating impact of hurricanes all too well, expressed his sympathy for those affected by Hurricane Helene. He urged all Texans to join him and his wife Cecilia in prayer for those who lost their lives in this catastrophic event. The governor also assured that Texas is ready to provide assistance to Georgia as they begin their journey towards recovery.
Under Governor Abbott's direction, TDEM has prepared emergency power generators to be deployed to Georgia. This support is in addition to the deployment of Texas A&M Task Force 1 to Florida last week, prior to the storm's impact.

The deployment of resources is being coordinated under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). This state-to-state mutual aid system allows states to provide assistance and share resources with each other during times of disaster or emergency. EMAC members can share resources from various disciplines, protect personnel who are deployed, and be reimbursed for mission-related costs. More information about EMAC can be found on their website at emacweb.org.
The deployment of emergency power generators from Texas will help ensure that critical infrastructure in Georgia can be restored quickly and efficiently. This gesture of support from one state to another showcases the unity and solidarity among Americans during times of crisis.
As Hurricane Helene continues its path of destruction, Governor Abbott's actions demonstrate his commitment to helping those affected by natural disasters and providing aid wherever it is needed.
