~ Last night, Governor Greg Abbott addressed over 500 local parents, teachers, and students at a Parent Empowerment Night at Grace Community School in Tyler. The Governor pledged to empower Texas parents with the right to choose the best education opportunities for their child's needs.
"Our lives are not defined by how we are challenged, but rather, how we respond to that challenge," said Governor Abbott. "We are here in Tyler tonight facing a much greater challenge to make sure our students are educated in the best way possible. We, as a people of Texas, commit to doing everything we can to respond to the lack of parental rights in our children's education."
The Governor touted the widespread support for school choice in rural, urban, and suburban communities across the state and voiced his support for the expansion of state-funded Education Savings Accounts to every Texas parent and student. He also emphasized the importance of transparency and accessibility of what is taught in Texas classrooms so that every parent can make informed decisions regarding their child's education.
