~ Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas hosted nine of his fellow Governors for a border security briefing at the Governor's Mansion in Austin. The briefing provided an update on the ongoing crisis and shared insights into Texas' response to President Joe Biden's open border policies. Adjutant General of the Texas Military Department Major General Thomas Suelzer, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steve McCraw, and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks were present at the briefing and gave on-the-ground intelligence about the border crisis.

Governor Abbott was joined by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Idaho Governor Brad Little, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin. During the briefing, he gave an overview of Texas' Operation Lone Star border security mission and explained effective tools and strategies used to deter and repel illegal immigration along the southern border. He noted that 16 individuals on the terrorist watchlist were arrested last month at the border due to President Biden's refusal to secure it. He also recognized Idaho and Florida for sending assistance to Texas and urged other governors to help provide more personnel for Operation Lone Star following President Biden's decision to end Title 42 earlier this month.

Director McCraw discussed how Mexican drug cartels control the illegal drug market by smuggling in deadly fentanyl and how President Biden's open border policies incentivize mass illegal immigration and cartel activity along the border. He said that while they prepared for mass migration scenarios, they did not anticipate this level of global migration due to federal government inaction at the border.

Major General Suelzer highlighted efforts by Texas National Guard soldiers deployed to Operation Lone Star and showed maps of barriers being constructed by guardsmen along the border. He also discussed improved tactics being used by them such as boats and drones in their strategy for securing borders. Additionally, he outlined how other states' National Guard troops could be integrated into Operation Lone Star to help fill gaps created by President Biden's open borders policies.

Border Czar Banks discussed his position as Texas' first-ever Border Czar and pointed out inaccuracies in drug seizure statistics reported by federal government. He drew attention to dangers posed by gotaways evading U.S Border Patrol as well as migrants crossing into United States without identification. He also highlighted effectiveness of busing strategy used by state of Texas to relieve overwhelmed communities near borders due to influx of migrants caused by President Biden's open borders policies.

The briefing comes after Governor Abbott sent letters last week requesting support from America's Governors for Texas's mission following decision made by Biden Administration to end Title 42 on May 11th
