The Governor has also created a special council, chaired by Glenn Hamer, CEO of the Texas Association of Business, and Jeff Burdett, Texas State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business. This council will review the recommendations provided by state agencies and report back to the Governor's office.

Governor Abbott has urged all state agencies to actively participate in this process by identifying any rules, permits, fees or regulations that may be impeding small business formation, operation or growth. The recommendations are due by January 13th, 2025 and will be reviewed by the Small Business Freedom Council for further action.

The Governor's letter to Texas state agencies can be found on his official website. With these efforts in place, Governor Abbott aims to ensure that Texas remains the best place for individuals to live, work and start a business.
