~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has renewed his disaster proclamation for a number of counties and state agencies affected by the ongoing surge of individuals unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border. The proclamation, originally issued on May 31, 2021, was amended in subsequent proclamations to include additional counties.

Under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott certified that the influx of individuals crossing the border posed an imminent threat of disaster for several Texas counties and state agencies. This threat continues to exist and has been declared a disaster in Aransas, Atascosa, Bee, Brewster, Brooks, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Coleman, Colorado, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, DeWitt and many other counties.

The governor's proclamation also states that all orders and directions provided in the original proclamation from May 31st are still in effect. This includes suspensions and authorizations related to the ongoing disaster.

In accordance with statutory requirements, copies of this renewed proclamation will be filed with applicable authorities. The governor's signature and official seal were affixed on November 25th at his office in Austin.

This is not the first time Governor Abbott has taken action regarding the situation at the border. In May 2021 alone, he issued multiple proclamations amending the original disaster declaration to include more counties.

The ongoing surge at the border has been a major concern for Texas officials as it poses a threat to public safety and resources. With this renewed proclamation in place, affected counties and state agencies can continue to receive necessary support and resources to address this ongoing crisis.

The governor's office encourages all those affected by this disaster to stay informed about any updates or changes through official channels. The full text of Governor Abbott's proclamation can be viewed on his website.
