~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has renewed his disaster proclamation for a number of counties and state agencies affected by the ongoing surge of individuals unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border. The proclamation, originally issued on May 31, 2021, has been amended multiple times to include additional counties and declare a state of disaster for those areas.
Under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott certified that the influx of individuals crossing the border posed an imminent threat of disaster for several counties and state agencies. This was followed by subsequent proclamations to modify the list of affected counties.
Despite these efforts, the certified conditions continue to exist and pose an ongoing threat as stated in previous proclamations. In addition, San Jacinto County has also declared a local level disaster.
