Texas: Governor Abbott Renews Hurricane Beryl Disaster Proclamation In October 2024

~ On Friday, July 5, 2024, a disaster proclamation was issued by Governor Greg Abbott for the state of Texas. The proclamation was later amended on the same day and again on Saturday, July 6, 2024. This proclamation declared that Hurricane Beryl posed an imminent threat of disaster to several counties in Texas.

The affected counties included Anderson, Angelina, Aransas, Atascosa, Austin, Bastrop, Bee, Bell, Bexar, Bowie, Brazoria, Brazos, Brooks, Burleson, Caldwell and many others. In accordance with Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code which grants the governor authority in times of disaster or emergency situations, Governor Abbott renewed the aforementioned proclamation. He also authorized the use of all available resources from state government and political subdivisions to cope with this disaster under Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code.

Governor Abbott signed his name on October 3rd ,2024 and officially caused the Seal of State to be affixed at his office in Austin,Texas. The Secretary of State Jane Nelson attested to this proclamation.
