Texas: Governor Abbott Showcases Special Education School Choice Opportunities In Plano

~ Plano, Texas - Governor Greg Abbott visited St. Timothy Christian Academy (STCA) today to meet with students with special needs, parents, and educators. During his tour of the school, he emphasized the importance of passing school choice for all Texas families. The media availability was held at STCA where Governor Abbott spoke about the state's responsibility to empower parents in choosing the best education for their children.

"The job of the state is to empower parents," stated Governor Abbott. He praised schools like St. Timothy for providing alternative education pathways that cater to each individual student's needs, whether they have special needs or simply require a different learning environment. He believes that passing school choice in Texas will give generations of parents the ability to choose the education pathway that is truly best for their child.

Accompanied by STCA Board of Directors President Lee Phegley, educators, and students during the media availability, Governor Abbott made a commitment to make Texas the number one state in the nation for educating students through a universal school choice program. He also expressed his gratitude towards the Texas House of Representatives for standing up for Texas families and having enough votes to pass their school choice bill, House Bill 3. The Senate has already passed their version in Senate Bill 2.

Before addressing the media, Governor Abbott took a tour of St. Timothy Christian Academy and met with students, parents, and educators. He encouraged the students by sharing his own story of overcoming obstacles after an accident left him in a wheelchair. He reminded them that they too can achieve anything they set their minds to.

St. Timothy Christian Academy is dedicated to supporting families by providing education to students with learning differences from kindergarten through twelfth grade. With Governor Abbott's support and advocacy for school choice, it is clear that he believes every child deserves access to quality education regardless of their circumstances.
