~ Austin, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Sir Professor Mallory Factor to the Governor's University Research Initiative (GURI) for a term set to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The Board, established to assist the Office of the Governor with reviewing and evaluating grant proposals, will benefit from Professor Factor's extensive experience in both the public and private sectors.

Professor Factor, a resident of Austin, is currently the Chairman, President, and CEO of IntraBio Inc. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to GURI as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Oxford and former John C. West Professor at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.

With a career spanning both private and public biotechnology, technology, and manufacturing companies, Professor Factor is well-equipped to advise on funding decisions for grant proposals. He is also a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a fellow of Historic Royal Palaces.

In addition to his impressive professional background, Professor Factor has also served as a senior advisor in both the United States Senate and the United Kingdom's House of Lords. He has previously held positions on various boards including the New York State Banking Department and The New York Public Asset Fund.

Professor Factor received his Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Wesleyan University and continued his education in the joint Business and Law Program at Columbia University. His diverse educational background will undoubtedly bring valuable insights to GURI's decision-making process.
