~ In a recent press release, Governor Greg Abbott proudly announced that Texas has once again been named the best state for job-creating businesses. This achievement comes as Texas sets new records for total jobs, number of employed Texans, and the size of the labor force based on April employment data.
According to Governor Abbott, "Texas is the undisputed champion for attracting job-creating business investments in the United States." He attributes this success to the state's Best Business Climate and highly skilled workforce. Since taking office, Governor Abbott claims that over 2.5 million jobs have been added in Texas and more Texans are working than ever before.
However, Governor Abbott is not resting on these accomplishments. He plans to continue implementing pro-growth economic policies, investing in career training for high-demand occupations, and partnering with businesses and innovators to maintain Texas as the best state for business and good-paying jobs in the future.
The latest employment data released by the Texas Workforce Commission supports Governor Abbott's claims. The state has reached a new high with its largest labor force ever at 15,814,400 people. Additionally, there are now 15,171,500 Texans working (including self-employed individuals), which is also a new record. The total number of nonfarm jobs has also reached a new high at 14,320,100 after adding 37,700 jobs in April alone.

Furthermore, over the past year from April 2024 to April 2025, Texas has added an impressive 215,500 nonfarm jobs. This growth rate surpasses that of the nation as a whole.
To celebrate these achievements and promote economic development in Texas even further, Governor Abbott proclaimed May 12‒16 as Economic Development Week in Texas. This comes after Texas was recently awarded the prestigious Prosperity Cup for being the top state for attracting job-creating business investments. This recognition earned Texas the "Triple Crown Trophy" for having the best economy in the nation.
In a show of support for Texas' business-friendly environment, Governor Abbott signed three critical pieces of pro-growth legislation into law on Wednesday. These laws aim to boost the state's capital market environment and solidify Texas as the best state for business. The bill signing ceremony at the Texas Capitol in Austin was attended by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and other business and legislative leaders, including TXSE Group Inc. Founder, Chairman and CEO James Lee and Texas Association of Business President and CEO Glenn Hamer.
With these recent achievements and continued efforts to promote economic growth, it is clear that Texas is determined to maintain its position as the best state for job-creating businesses for years to come.
