~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott proudly shared that Texas has been awarded the state's 12th Gold Shovel Award by Area Development magazine. This prestigious award recognizes Texas for its exceptional performance in job creation and capital investment in 2024. This marks the 20th consecutive year that Texas has been recognized with either a Gold or Silver Shovel Award.

Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude for this recognition, stating, "Texas once again takes home the gold for attracting businesses and creating jobs. Our state's business-friendly climate and rapidly growing skilled workforce make it an ideal location for innovative industry leaders to invest with confidence." He also credited the state's economic development partners at the local, regional, and statewide levels for their contributions to this achievement.

Area Development magazine specifically recognized Texas for its high-value expansion and location projects totaling over $10.6 billion in investments in 2024. Additionally, 12 projects were acknowledged for creating more than 11,000 jobs across the state.

Among these projects were three notable manufacturing investments: Delta Electronics, Inc.'s $452 million investment creating 1,500 jobs in Plano; QYK Brands' $400 million investment creating 1,000 jobs in The Woodlands; and Amazon's $200 million investment creating 1,000 jobs in Cleburne.

Area Development's annual Shovel Awards recognize states for their success in attracting high-value investment projects that will generate a substantial number of new jobs. The rankings are determined by a combination of factors, including the number of new jobs created relative to the state's population, the total amount of investments made by companies, the number of new facilities, and the diversity of industries represented.

Governor Abbott expressed his commitment to building on this momentum to attract even more business investments and create thousands of well-paying jobs for a stronger and more prosperous Texas. The full rankings can be found on Area Development's website.
